Scratch It

Learn Photography from Scratch with us & have fun

For some reason, since using the DSLR, most of my pictures turn out too light / bright.
That is really bugging me.
I've tried to play with the modi on the camera (like pre setting for shadow, sunlight, electric light, etc.)
It works a bit better, but I guess I would have to use the white balance adjustment right then and there.

But how? Where? :)

With most cameras you can adjust the white balance right at the camera. Even my tiny Casio P&S had it.
Did I ever use it? Not really.
I edited the pictures afterward, with loss of quality.

Now what I want YOU & ME to do, is to find out IF your camera has an adjustable white balance (I'm sure it does).
Then I want you to play with it while shooting. Go away from auto setting and play with it. Go from one extreme to the other and try to find a feel for it.

Let's get started :)

P.S.: You can add Photos to your profile, you can add them to folders & just put a link in here that leads us to the pictures to check them out.
Post your BEST shot in here :)
Let's have fun!

First one is Auto

Second is Florescent

Third is shade

This makes so much sense now. Thank you Nicole! I would never have done it without your encouragement. Still playing around with it.

Mh, I don't know why the pics don't load in the post.
I tried to add them here, but it won't work.
How big are they? Did you upload the original? :)

They are lovely though & I'm glad you had / have fun.
I'm far from finished with this one either. But hey, when my Internet was slow last night, I read in my manual in between the page loading times ;)
